2 Introduction

Further in RS 485 mode the serial ports not only provide the most often used bus mode (“2-wire”,

with or without Echo) as Half-Duplex, also Full-Duplex is possible (“4-wire”).

2.2.1 VScom 200Ei PCIex

The VScom 200Ei PCIex card features two serial ports, available via a PCI Express slot.

The maximum speed is 15.625 Mbit/s, but this is theoretical because the electrical interface is not

capable of such transmission rates.

The operation mode is conﬁgured via the small DIP switches according to table 7. The RS 485

modes require the driver conﬁgured for Automatic DTR as “RS 485 Low Active”, as seen in 4.2.3.
